The Pilgrim High School baseball team is reading books at practice. We know that may sound strange...but it's actually pretty amazing.
Once a week, a player is chosen and a book is assigned to that player to read to the team. The books can be anything, including sweet children's books. The result of the weekly reading is camaraderie and bonding.
In the article written by WJAR's Joe Kayata, Pilgrim's assistant coach said "when you look back at your high school career you're not going to remember too many wins or losses, you're going to remember the little stuff. The team bonding stuff. And I think this book read, the kids are going to remember".
One of the books the players have read was "The Wonkey Donkey". The book is intended to be both read and SANG! Here's a video of the official song on YouTube!
