This might ruin your childhood, but I actually think it's really cool to learn the history behind all these old nursery rhymes, even if it gets dark. They sound like utter nonsense anyway, but after learning what they are really about, I can't believe we sing these to kids. YIKES! History was passed through and turned into folklore, but I'm not sure why we had to take in a step further and turn them into song with a cute melody and rhyme scheme.
