August Annual Perseid's Meteor shower occurs July 20th through August 24th, and it reaches its peak August 11th to the 13th! 50-100 meteors can be seen per hour it starts at 9pm but at midnight is the best time for viewing. The debris from the Comet Swift-Tuttle is what we're seeing. The meteors glow white, yellow, blues, greens, and the sky lights up when they exploded upon entering the atmosphere. Such a pretty show, watched it with my friends last year in my truck bed with an air mattress, pillows and blankets
August's full moon will occur on Sunday, the 22, and is as its peak, at 8:02 AM ET, it will be big and beautiful in the sky Friday night! This moon is known as the Sturgeon Moon. The fishing tribes are responsible for this moon's name, since sturgeon fish were ready for catching around this time. Other tribes called it the Full Red Moon because, it looked red as it rose. Its other names are the Fruit Moon, Grain noon and Green Corn Moon.
