As you may know I am super into crystals and I know technically pearls aren't a crystal, but they are gorgeous. Ironically enough I don't live under a rock, so I know where pearls come from oysters, but it's not as simple as cartoons make it seem. They don't magically open up and hand over their pearl, and they even have more than 1 inside. I came across an interesting video on Instagram that shows how pearls are farmed and even given a new nucleus to make future pearls. This is all done very delicately so not to hurt the oyster, and not all the pearls are keepers. I totally want to try this, it looks as satisfying as popping pimples, but instead of nasty stuff, you get a pearl!
