Klondike Responds to Choco Taco Fans Saying They Want to Bring it Back

The Choco Taco has been an ice cream truck favorite for years! They were first offered by the ice cream man in 1984. In 1996 they introduced a take home freezer version of the taco shaped frozen treat topped with chopped nuts and chocolate.

After rumors that the Choco Taco might be going away, maker Klondike announced last week that it is being discontinued. The parent company Unilever said, “We’ve experienced an unprecedented spike in demand across our portfolio and have had to make very tough decisions to ensure availability of our full portfolio nationwide. We’re very sorry for any disappointment!”

And boy were Choco Taco fans disappointed! The news caused an uproar, and in response the few remaining boxes of Choco Tacos were selling for hundreds of dollars online. One box sold on ebay for $232.50!

Well now Klondike is responding to fans on Twitter saying, "I want to address the rumors: I’m really being discontinued, it’s not a PR stunt. I knew you loved me, but not THIS much. While I reflect on this outpouring of support, we are discussing next steps, including what to do with the last 912 (we counted) tacos at HQ. Stay tuned.  They added, “We know this is disappointing – we’ve heard our fans, and we’re hoping to bring this favorite treat back to ice cream trucks in the coming years!” The coming YEARS? It's 94 degrees out...I want one now!
