The Worst App To Look At Before Falling Asleep...TikTok!

Many of us are guilty of this, me included, scrolling through our phones looking at social media or online shopping or whatever while lying in bed. No doubt that is a bad idea. We know the blue light emitted by smartphones can really mess with our sleep because it stimulates our brains and can even cut down on the production of the hormone melatonin which helps you sleep.

And there’s one app in particular that is the worst to scan through before going to sleep. TikTok.

The sleep research website Sleep Junkie conducted a survey of over 2000 adults and found that those who used TikTok before bed took over one hour longer to fall asleep than the average person. And when they did finally fall asleep, they only spent about 14 percent of their time in that REM phase. A healthy adult should get double that amount. And a whopping 89% of those who used media at bedtime said they woke up tired versus 24% who didn’t use electronic media at all.

In order to get a better night’s sleep, Sleep Junkie says you should turn off any electronic media at least two hours before you go to bed.
