Wow, that water is cold in Newport in January! On New Yearâs Day I participated in A Wish Come Trueâs Polar Plunge at Eastonâs Beach! It was kind of a drizzly, dreary day, but the temperature was around 50 degrees so at least the air wasnât too cold. The water temperature was around 45 degrees though, so that was a bit of a shock when I jumped in.
It was worth all the shivering because we were âFreezin' for a Reason!â The goal was to raise money to grant wishes to kids with life threatening illnesses who live in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. Specifically, we were plunging January 1st to grant the wishes of little5 year old Elijah and9 year old Benjamin who both want to visit Disney World. Theyâve both gone through years of cancer treatments, and are now finally cancer free and feeling good!
On Saturday I raised almost $1000 to help the kids thanks to many of my friends, family members and radio listeners, and Iâm so thankful for all of those generous donations! There's still time to donate...click HERE!
