Approximately 24 million people in the United States suffer from an eating disorder, that’s according to the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders. Dr. Abigail Donaldson is medical director of the eating disorder program at Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital. She’s also a certified specialist in eating disorders by the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals.
Recently she participated in a pediatric healthcare summit in collaboration with Boston Children’s Hospital. That partnership offers lots of resources for Rhode Islanders who are suffering from Anorexia, Bulimia or one of many eating disorders that affect both women and men.
Listen below to Kristin’s interview with Dr. Donaldson. She has lots of information for those who suffer from an eating disorder, or who may have a family member or friend who does, and she talks about resources available to help.
