The "12 Days of Christmas" Cost Way More This Year!

Just to stress you out this holiday season, inflation is making everything more expensive this year. Because of inflation, the cost of all the gifts mentioned in the song The 12 Days of Christmas has increased quite a bit. If you were to buy your true love all those birds and rings and drummers etc., it would cost you over $41,000!

Every year since 1984, PNC Bank has been analyzing the cost of buying all the items in the lyrics to the song, and including it in their Christmas Price Index. This holiday season they say the index is up 5.7 percent! That’s the biggest increase since 2013.This Christmas they say to buy everything on the list would cost you $41,206,up from $38,994 in 2019.Last year with the pandemic the cost of everything plummeted to just $16,168.

The Six Geese-a-Laying had the biggest increase in price this year, up by over 57% to $660. The two turtle doves would run you around 450 bucks, that’s 50 percent higher than last year. And those Seven Swans a Swimming always cost a lot for some reason. They’ve stayed the same price at $13,125, coming in as the most expensive item on the list.
