Last week I talked about Rhode Islander Johnny Gates who said he had tried out for "The Voice" but his audition hadn’t aired yet. Well we finally got to see him on the show last night. Johnny is 31 and he’s originally from West Warwick, but recently he’s been living out in Los Angeles. NBC "leaked" his blind audition on YouTube. Three of the four celebrity coaches turned their chairs when they heard Gates sing "Maggie May" by Rod Stewart (who he opened up for on tour). He eventually went with coach Gwen Stefani, who told him his voice is incredible. The other contestant with Rhode Island ties Troy Ramey, also went with Team Gwen.
