Meghan Trainor is revealing the health scare that influenced her to start her fitness and weight loss journey.

In a recent interview with iHeartRadio's KIIS FM, the "Still Don't Care" singer explained that she became "obsessed" with cultivating a healthier lifestyle after being diagnosed with gestational diabetes during her pregnancy, per People. She shares two sons — Riley, 4, and Barry, 2 — with husband Daryl Sabara.

According to the Mayo Clinic, gestational diabetes can occur during pregnancy and "causes high blood pressure that can affect a pregnancy and a baby's health" and may be managed through eating healthy foods, exercising and taking medicine if needed.

While speaking on "getting a lot of hate online" over her slimmed-down figure, Trainor called out comments pointing out that she was the "'All About That Bass' girl" by reminding them that she was around 19 years old when she released the hit song and has therefore grown a lot in the past decade.

"I've been on a fitness journey since I got healthy. And it started with when I was pregnant," she said. "I had gestational diabetes. And I was like, 'Oh I got to learn about health and fitness.'"

She explained that she is now "so focused on health" and has been doing "strength training three times a week in the gym" because she wants "to be at my strongest" to "tour forever" and keep up with her two kids.

"Now I'm obsessed with like how's my hormones? How's my gut? Because I just want to feel good, because this job is hard to do if you don't feel good," she said. "But I got a lot of hate for being thinner so it confused me and rattled me."

Trainor channeled that energy into her new single "Still Don't Care," from her upcoming album Toy with Me, out April 24. Listen to the song on iHeartRadio.
