A federal judge in Rhode Island has ordered ICE to release a Cambodian-born man who was taken into custody last month.
Chansareth Hong was detained in July during a scheduled check-in at the ICE field office in Warwick.
Hong was brought to the U.S. by his parents when he was a baby and has lived in Providence for nearly 50-years.
The judge ruled that holding Hong violated a settlement in a class-action suit over Cambodian refugees.
ICE has not commented on Hong's detention status.
