Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee issued a statewide drought advisory on Thursday.
The advisory comes after a recommendation from the state's Drought Steering Committee following months of precipitation deficits and dry conditions.
The governor says he state's water supply is designed to withstand some level of drought, but as a precaution, he's encouraging residents and businesses to consider taking water conservation measures.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor map, Rhode Island is in a moderate drought.
