New England Govs Urge Feds To Reject Transmission Rate Increases

Rhode Island's Dan McKee has joined a bipartisan coalition of New England governors in urging regulators to reject a rate increase proposal by regional transmission owners.

The governors say the proposed increases of more than eleven-percent would rise electricity costs for already-strained ratepayers.

The coalition is asking the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to reject a profit increase for transmission line utilities, saying energy bills are too high and utilities should be looking for ways to lower costs, not increase profits.
