RIDOH Recommends Avoiding Direct Contact With Watchemoket Cove

The Rhode Island Department of Health is advising the public to avoid all direct contact with the water in Watchemoket Cove following the recent sewage discharge from the East Providence wastewater collection system.

Officials say while there are no licensed, swimmable beaches in this area, the public should not wade or have any direct contact with the water until further notice.

The Department of Environmental Management and RIDOH are working closely to monitor conditions in East Providence.
