Rhode Island AG Thanks Judge For Voter Info Ruling

Attorney General Peter Neronha is thanking Judge Mary McElroy for rejecting a Justice Department lawsuit aimed at getting Rhode Island to turn over voter information.

Neronha says historically, the DOJ has aimed to protect the public by upholding the rule of law - but that's not the case anymore.

He says the DOJ has been compromised by the Trump Administration and is primarily focused on doing the President's bidding, which is often baseless and retaliatory in nature.

Neronha says be believed the state would win the case because the President cannot legally access personally identifiable information within voter rolls because their maintenance and security remain responsibilities that Congress and the Constitution entrust to the states.
