RI Senator Will Vote In Favor Of War Powers Resolution

Rhode Island U.S. Senator Jack Reed says he will vote in favor of a war powers resolution requiring President Trump to stop military action against Iran within 30 days.

The Democrat is criticizing the White House for going to war without authorization from Congress, saying the President cannot continue to ignore the Congress and the American people and expect support for this war of choice.

Reed says if the President can go to war without congressional approval "can he nationalize the elections without congressional approval, contrary to the Constitution?"

Meantime- Anti-war protesters gathered in Providence to speak out against airstrikes in Iran over the weekend and they plan to hold another rally this evening.

The Rhode Island branch of the Party for Socialism and Liberation and other groups say the Trump administration and Israel have launched an unprovoked, illegal war on Iran that "threatens to cause unthinkable death and destruction."

Organizers say they will rally in front of Providence City Hall beginning at 5:30 p.m.
