Rhode Island's Peter Neronha has joined a coalition of 13 attorneys general in suing the Trump administration for terminating funding for energy and infrastructure programs.
The coalition says the money was allocated by Congress and the administration is breaking the law because Congress- not the President - has the "power of the purse."
In Rhode Island, the administration cancelled three grants totaling 14-million-dollars.
The coalition is asking the court to declare the administration's actions unlawful and to permanently prohibit it from interfering with the programs.
