Four Charged In MSP Recruit's Death

Charges are being filed against four Massachusetts State Troopers in connection to the death of a MSP recruit in 2024.

An independent investigator said Enrique Delgado-Garcia suffered a concussion during what they called "unauthorized, unapproved, and unsupervised" sparring exercises at the State Police Academy in New Braintree the day before he became unresponsive during a boxing match with another recruit.

The investigator said Troopers Edwin Rodriguez, David Montanez, Casey LaMonte, and Sergeant Jennifer Penton had direct management and control over the exercises, and all four of them interacted with Delgado-Garcia while he experienced concussion-like symptoms and failed to intervene.

They face multiple charges including involuntary manslaughter.
