Governor Dan McKee, Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha and other state leaders have issued a statement on the potential sale of the Roger Williams and Fatima hospitals.
Prospect Medical Holdings has been trying to sell the hospitals, but the deal is behind schedule as potential buyer Centurion tries to secure financing.
Centurion has verbal commitments from investors, but it needs an 18-million-dollar reserve bond from the state to help with the purchase.
Attorney General Neronha has filed a proposed stipulation and order in the Texas bankruptcy court that will extend the transfer date until February 27th if approved.
In addition, General Assembly leadership will introduce legislation to authorize the state funding needed to help close the deal.
