The dorms at Brown University opened Saturday for the first time since December's deadly mass shooting.
Students attending classes in the 2026 spring semester will find new safety measures in place to better protect the campus.
The safety measures were announced December 30th by Interim Vice President for Public Safety Hugh Clements.
Beginning this year, there will be an increased police presence in academic buildings and residential areas, as well as more blue light phones and panic buttons on campus.
In addition, all buildings will require a card or University ID for entry and additional security cameras will be put in place.
