Pawtucket Man Charged With DUI Following Weekend Crash

A Pawtucket man has been charged with DUI after crashing into a pole and parked cars in Cranston.

The Sunday crash happened at around 1 a.m. at Pontiac and Brookside avenues when 40-year-old Matthew Gwozdz lost control of his vehicle as he tried to drive around a car in front of him.

Gwozdz drove through a fence and struck two parked cars that hit the side of a house.

His vehicle then struck a utility pole and crews had to use the Jaws of Life to remove him from the wreckage.

In addition to DUI, Gwozdz is charged with reckless driving and refusal to submit to a chemical test.
