A group of Southern New England mayors gathered in Providence Wednesday to talk about early childhood education.
Providence Mayor Brett Smiley hosted the discussion and highlighted the city's plan for universal pre-K.
The mayor says in Providence, 83-percent of four-year-olds have access to seats through Rhode Island Pre-K, Head Start, or other high-quality community preschool programs.
The mayors are urging the Trump administration to provide more funding for expanding and improving educational opportunities.
