RI Energy Customers in Line for Refund

Rhode Island Energy customers are due to receive a refund thanks to action by the state legislature this week.

A series of refunds, discounts and protections for federal workers and contractors comes a month after a 15 percent increase in winter electricity prices kicked in for utility customers.

The biggest amount of savings will come from the annual reconciliation process in which the utility rectifies forecast gas supplies against actual costs.

This year's adjustment is noteworthy because of its size: Nearly 64-million dollars will be coming back to customers.
