RI Man Among The Hikers Rescued From Mount Washington Trail In NH

A Rhode Island man is among the hikers who were rescued Saturday when they encountered winter conditions on Mount Washington in New Hampshire.

Twenty-year-old Owen Strommer of Wakefield was around a third of a mile below the summit when he called for help, saying his headlamp and phone were dying and he didn't have backup equipment.

He said he was ok at the time but was not prepared to stay overnight.

A search-and-rescue team was dispatched and a fully chained truck drove to the trail to find Strommer who was taken to the summit. Strommer was not injured, and he was driven to the base of the mountain.
