Layoffs Announced At Brown University

Brown University is laying off 48 people and leaving 55 vacancy unfilled.

It's to help reduce a nearly 30-million-dollar deficit in the school's operating budget for fiscal year 2026.

A university spokesperson said the job cuts are needed to offset expected losses in federal funding, and federal policy changes that will affect tuition revenue.

The layoffs affect staff only, not faculty, and those affected are getting severance and outplacement assistance.
