Police Cruiser Set Ablaze During Boston Street Takeover

A Boston police cruiser was set on fire and destroyed during a wild street takeover in the city's South End.

The incident began after 2 a.m. yesterday at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Tremont Street.

People in the unruly crowd began shooting fireworks at the cruiser, and after being struck multiple times it caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames.

Two Rhode Island teenagers were charged with participating in the unrest, but it's not clear if they are responsible for setting the fire.

Julian Bowers of Cumberland and William Cantwell of Warwick face charges that include malicious destruction of property, disorderly conduct and assault and battery on a police officer.

Police are promising more arrests.
