The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management says a mosquito sample taken in East Providence has tested positive for the West Nile Virus.
RIDEM says the sample was collected on September 22nd. To date, no mosquito samples this season have tested positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus or Jamestown Canyon Virus.
Last week, the health officials announced the state's first probable human case of West Nile this year.
The current risk level for the virus remains high statewide.
