Men With Alleged Ties To South American Theft Group Arrested In Cranston

Three men with alleged ties to the South American Theft Group have been arrested in Cranston.

The suspects from New York and New Jersey were taken into custody after residents on Uxbridge Street reported suspicious activity involving an SUV with a Virginia license plate.

Police spotted their vehicle a short time later and seized five cellphones, black face masks, zip ties and various tools during a traffic stop.

The suspects face charges that include attempted breaking and entering, conspiracy, possession of burglary tools.

Two men are being held at the ACI Intake Center and ICE lodged a detainer on the third.
