Providence Mayor Brett Smiley has signed an executive order reaffirming the city's commitment to being safe and welcoming for all neighbors.
The mayor says Safe Providence for All prioritizes public safety strategies that protect neighbors, and underscore the city's support for all Providence community members, regardless of immigration status.
The order also clarifies that Providence Police will not conceal their identities or act as immigration officials.
