A Providence teacher is facing charges after an incident involving a student last week.
Yaritza Martinez, a behavior interventionalist at Lillian Feinstein Elementary School, allegedly bit a student who threw paint across a room, and she's been charged with simple assault or battery.
Principal Maria Petrosinelli sent a letter to the school community saying the teacher was immediately placed on leave and has not returned to the school.
Petrosinelli also says it was an isolated incident, and no other students were involved.
