RIDEM Says WNV Found In East Providence, Westerly And West Greenwich

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management says West Nile Virus has been detected in mosquito samples collected in East Providence, Westerly and West Greenwich.

Officials say the samples collected on August 12th tested positive for the virus.

The public is advised to take precautions to avoid mosquito bites.

Some tips include wearing long-sleeved shirts and pants at dusk and dawn and using an EPA-approved bug spray.
