Boston Mayor Michelle Wu says her city won't back down from who they are.
The comment is a response to a letter from Attorney General Pam Bondi that demanded an end to certain immigration policies.
Speaking to reporters, Wu said federal officials who are attacking communities that embody diversity are wrong on the law and wrong on safety.
Bondi sent the letter last week that asked for a response by today that confirms the city's commitment to complying with federal law and federal immigration enforcement.
The letter was sent to several other cities and states around the nation that the DOJ has designated as "sanctuary jurisdictions."
Wu said silence in the face of oppression is not an option.
