NHC Watching TS Erin For Further Development

Tropical Storm Erin has formed in the Atlantic Ocean.

Forecasters expect the storm to become the first hurricane of this year's Atlantic season.

Erin's winds reached 40 miles-per-hour on Monday, and is currently located west of the Cabo Verde Islands.

The storm is forecast to continue moving west at 15 to 20 miles-per-hour across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic.

The storm will travel across the ocean for most of the week and it's not yet known what kind of threat it poses to the U.S.
