A one month old baby is fighting for her life after apparently being stricken with a rare- very rare virus caused by a tick.
The family of the little girl, Lily Sisco say they believe she got the tick on a bike path in West Tisbury last month.
The rare virus- Powassan virus is potentially fatal and there is no known treatment.
The child now is at Mass General Hospital where final test results are not back yet.
Her mother writes on Facebook that Lily is still fighting daily at MGH and continuing to leave the doctors speechless at her progress.
Lily's mom ends the post by pleading with residents to check yourself, your kids and pets for ticks.
The Vineyard Gazette is reporting that the child is listed in stable condition.
There are 24 similar cases in the US...three in Massachusetts.
There have been two cases on The Cape in the last twenty years.
