Police Officer Recovering After Being Struck By Fleeing Suspect

A North Kingstown police officer is recovering after being struck by a car driven by a fleeing suspect.

It happened Friday while the officer was working undercover in a sexual exploitation case.

Police were trying to arrest Alec Perry Pawtucket for indecent solicitation of a child when he drove at officers and struck Detective J. Dylan Navakauskas.

Police fired at Perry who crashed and was arrested.

The detective was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where he was treated and released.
