The WNBA will have to wait a little longer before having a franchise located in Boston.
Connecticut Sun president Jennifer Rizzotti confirmed Sunday that the team plans to play at Mohegan Sun Arena in 2026.
The Sun got the offer from Boston-based investor group led by Celtics minority owner Steve Pagliuca.
The sale is for 325 million dollars, which would be a record for a women's sports franchise, and would include 100 million dollars for a practice facility.
Pagliuca, in a statement over the weekend says that besides the selling price he will spend 100 million dollars on a dedicated practice facility/
The former Celtics owner had been pitching Providence as a site for the team.
No word on when the WNBA will deal with the issue.
The team will remain in Connecticut for the 2026 season.
