Rhode Island's Dan McKee is among 17 governors calling for the release of six-point-eight-billion-dollars in federal education funds already approved by Congress.
The governors have sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Education and the Office of Management and Budget urging them to follow the law and fulfill their obligation to distribute the appropriated funding.
McKee says students, educators, and schools can't afford any delays.
So far there has been no response from either agency.
