Fall River Fire Chief Jeffrey Bacon is defending the department's response to this week's nursing home fire that killed nine residents.
Bacon says criticism that additional manpower could have saved lives at the Gabriel House is just speculation.
Around 35 firefighters responded to the scene Sunday night, and Bacon says 100 firefighters could have arrived and it wouldn't have been enough.
The president of the city firefighters union claimed on Monday that lives would have been saved if the department was adequately staffed.
