The National Weather Service says there is a marginal risk of severe weather overnight.
We are already in the middle of a Heat Advisory which extends into tonight.
But we could see some heavy rain and with it and the chance for flash flooding.
With it - Governor Dan McKee has issued the following information:
“With heavy rain, strong winds, and possible flash flooding expected later today, I’ve directed the State's Emergency Operations Center to go into partial activation for surveillance purposes this afternoon. Our team at the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency has taken steps to prepare and keep communities informed. We’re monitoring the storm closely and are prepared to scale up operations if needed. The Department of Transportation’s maintenance crews are currently clearing drains and will remain available to clear additional debris after the storm if necessary.
“RI Energy has informed us that they have crews on standby, with additional resources arriving as contingency support. They’ve also reported that their IT systems, including the outage map, are performing well, and that external vendor support is on-site to help ensure system reliability overnight.
The Governor is asking everyone to use caution on the roads and to stay alert and informed.
