The 100th annual Catholic Charity Appeal is reporting it raised seven-point-seven-million-dollars, surpassing its goal by two-hundred-thousand-dollars.
The funding is used to provide social services including food and rental assistance to the needy, homeless outreach and tuition assistance in diocesan schools.
The Rhode Island Catholic newspaper reported Bishop Bruce Lewandowski praised priests throughout the Diocese of Providence for working hard to make the Appeal a success.
