Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee says he will let the 14-point-3-billion-dollar state budget become law without his signature.
McKee says the budget passed by the General Assembly taxes people and unnecessarily raises fees that he would have struck if he had the power of a line-item veto.
The governor says lacking that authority, he is allowing the bill to become law without his signature as a clear and deliberate statement of opposition to the cost increases it imposes on Rhode Islanders.
