Lawmakers Race The Clock As Legislative Session Comes To An End Today

State Lawmakers have a busy agenda the last day of the Rhode Island legislative session.

The high profile bills center on the 14 point 3 billion dollar budget for the next fiscal year.

The Senate will debate their final version of an Assault Weapons ban which has been watered down a bit since being unveiled.

But there is no guarantee the House will then take up the measure.

The Senate is also expected to pass a Payday Lending Bill which would cap interest rates at 36 percent.

In some cases they are as high as 260 per cent.

Governor McKee says if he gets the bill he will sign it.
