The Rhode Island Department of Transportation has rescheduled work on the Providence Viaduct's northbound service road because of weather concerns on Friday.
RIDOT says the project will take place this Friday with crews opening additional travel lanes on I-95 North and the northbound Providence Viaduct service road at Exit 38.
The lanes will enable easier access to the service road and provide more room for merging traffic.
The lanes are expected to be open by the morning of Saturday, June 7th.
By mid-June, RIDOT is scheduled to begin milling and paving the area of the Viaduct, the I-95 express lanes and the service road, with a permanent, final layer of asphalt.
The work will take two or three weeks, and it will require overnight lane closures.
