Rates at the Providence Place Mall parking garage will not increase on June 1st, as previously planned.
One of the temporary receivers of the mall says the decision to pause the increase was made after ongoing feedback from tenants and members of the community.
Officials say the mall will now begin a broader engagement process to develop a parking plan that will support the mall's financial and parking maintenance. Under the increase only the first 30-minutes of visitor parking would be free instead of the current two hours.
Parking for 30 to 60 minutes would have increased to one-dollar, one-to-two hours would cost two-dollars and two-to-five hours would have increased to ten-dollars.
