Over 800 unionized staff at Butler Hospital will go on strike at six a.m., May 15th, if there is no contract settlement.
According to the Service Employees International Union, bargaining with the psychiatric hospital's parent company Care New England, has failed to produce meaningful progress.
The union said chronic staff shortages, low wages and workplace violence issues must be addressed.
Care New England said if there is a strike, Butler Hospital will continue to accept new patients by using a third-party vendor to provide uninterrupted care.
