The 2025 International Seapower Symposium at the Naval War College in Newport is canceled.
A Navy spokesperson cited a lack of funding for the event which was scheduled for October.
The symposium typically brings together leaders from over 100 navies to discuss maritime security and to strengthen alliances.
The U.S. Naval Institute News reported the cancellation is part of the Department of Defense initiative to reduce non-essential travel and events.
