Lawmakers Want To Ban Out Of State Bottle Returns

Connecticut's decision to increase bottle returns from a nickel to ten-cents has attracted attention from out of state.

State officials say trucks carrying beverage containers are coming into border towns from Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New York to take advantage of the higher deposit returns.

Some in the legislature are looking for ways to address the issue, calling it cross border fraud.

A bill under consideration would require anyone redeeming over 12 hundred containers a day provide personal information.
