Governor Dan McKee has set a goal of permitting 15-thousand new homes in a draft of the state's Housing 2030 plan.
The governor says the plan aims to address Rhode Island's housing challenges by setting ambitious goals for the production and preservation of housing at every level.
The new homes would include affordable rental and home ownership units and middle-market homes like duplexes, triplexes, and accessory dwelling units.
The Rhode Island Department of Housing has posted the draft on their website so residents can review the plan and submit feedback.
