House Fire Leads To Marijuana Bust In Cumberland

A house fire in Cumberland led to the discovery of a marijuana grow operation and the homeowner's arrest.

Firefighters were called to a home on Sun Valley Drive Tuesday afternoon and were able to contain the fire to the basement, where they found the marijuana and called police.

Police executed a search warrant and found around 40 mature cannabis plants standing several feet tall.

Police say the 38-year-old owner, Mark Garvey did not have licensing to grow a large quantity of marijuana, and the quantity they found was well over the legal limit for personal use.
